What is Cloud Computing ? | Types of Cloud Models
If you are also a mobile and computer user, then you must have heard about cloud computing at some time. But if you also have any kind of doubt about cloud computing like what cloud computing is and how it can be used. In this article, we are going to give complete information about Cloud Computing so that all your doubts about cloud computing can be cleared.
Cloud Computing : Definition
Cloud computing is a technology that is made up of many networks. Basically, it is the use of sharing resources like hosted services such as servers, databases, software, networks, analytics and other computing functions over the Internet. In General Terms, Cloud Computing is the use of remote servers to store and access on the internet virtually instead of putting physical hard drives.
Types of Cloud Models
There are basic two types of Cloud Models :
1. Service Models :
There are three types of Service Models in Cloud Computing.
a. IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
IaaS provides virtualized computing resources like servers, hardware and data storage as an infrastructure over the internet. You need not to worry about the physical machine and it also abstract the user from the physical machine.
b. PaaS (Platform as a Service)
PaaS provides users an ability to create applications using programming languages, tools etc as a platform. PaaS supports a full application development life cycle like build, test, deploy, manage and update all in one place. It has no control over the structure.
c. SaaS (Software as a Service)
SaaS provides software accessible services through application or web browser. For Example -
CRM (Customer Resource Manager) is the SaaS service which is provided by salesforce.com. Users can use the CRM service but it is owned by the salesforce.com.
2. Deployment Model
There are three types of Deployment model in cloud computing
a. Public Cloud
Public cloud is the type of shared cloud. Public cloud can be accessible by multiple consumers. Public cloud can be accessed from anywhere only with login credentials. For Example - Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Flipkart etc.
b. Hybrid Cloud
Hybrid Cloud is the combination of Public and Private Cloud. When there are two types of clouds linked over the internet then it is known as Hybrid Cloud Computing. If one of them becomes corrupted or reaches its storage capacity then another cloud will save the data.
c. Private Cloud
Private Cloud provides services with more security. It provides restricted access to the limited users over the private internet network.
